Start with the daily experience, not just the destination. Rome combines saints and sacred architecture with crowded streets, steps and queues. Lourdes offers the Sanctuary's Youth & Family service and child-focused activities. Fátima's story of the three shepherd children can make the pilgrimage accessible to younger imaginations, although evening processions may be late. On the Camino, choose a realistic route and distance rather than expecting children to complete an adult walking schedule.
Ask the operator for the longest walking day, time on feet, hotel changes, bathroom and meal breaks, and the ability to sit out an optional activity. A family-friendly destination is not automatically a family-friendly itinerary.
Good to know: St. Peter's Basilica publishes no stroller policy online; confirm in advance whether a stroller can come inside or must be left with the group.
