Everything in the daily program happens at the church and the places grouped around it: the outdoor altar with its prayer area of about 5,000 seats, the 25 confessionals, the adoration chapel and the bronze statue of the Risen Christ. Pilgrims commonly describe these grounds as flat and paved, but the parish publishes no accessibility guide, so anyone who uses a wheelchair or a walker should ask the parish Information Office, at +387 36 651 988, or their guesthouse about distances and surfaces before booking.

The hills are devotions, not obligations. Apparition Hill is a steep, rocky path with no paved surface, and Cross Mountain is longer and higher. The Blue Cross stands at the foot of Apparition Hill and is a place of prayer in its own right; ask your guide how close a car can bring you and what the last stretch is like, since the parish does not describe the approach.

If you are traveling with a group, ask before you book what is planned for those who stay down during a climb. A good plan is specific and decided in advance, not improvised at the trailhead: the Rosary at the Risen Christ statue, adoration in the chapel, or unhurried time for confession while the others are on the hill. The Sunday Rosary on Apparition Hill and the Friday Way of the Cross on Cross Mountain are devotions that climbers join, and nothing in the evening program depends on having been up either hill.
