For babies and toddlers, prioritize sleep, feeding, changing facilities, short transfers and the option to leave an activity early. For elementary-age children, shorter explanations, breaks and vivid stories often work better than long lectures. Teenagers may appreciate more walking, service opportunities and independent reflection. These are planning suggestions, not developmental rules.

Some activities do have real age restrictions: children under six cannot enter Sagrada Família's towers, and those aged six to sixteen must be accompanied by an adult. The Pilgrim Office in Santiago also distinguishes children able to understand the Camino's spiritual purpose from younger children when issuing the Compostela.

Good to know: Missing a tower climb does not mean missing the pilgrimage.
