Bring a stroller if your child still needs one, but do not assume it can go everywhere. Stairs, cobblestones, crowded churches and site rules may make a compact folding stroller and, where safe, a carrier more practical than a large stroller.

St. Peter's Basilica publishes no stroller policy online; confirm in advance whether a stroller can come inside or must be left with the group. The Welcome Area has a changing table and space for breastfeeding; the dome climb requires stairs.

A compact stroller may help on long walking days. A carrier can help where wheels are impractical, provided the adult can safely carry the child.
