The window is the detail to plan around. The U.S. bishops' office in Rome, on its page as read on October 10, 2026, says the couple must attend three months or less after the wedding. Older articles and other websites quote longer periods; go by the office's figure, and if your dates are close, ask before you book flights. The certificate must be a copy of the sacramental marriage certificate signed by the priest or deacon who celebrated the wedding.
The office asks for requests at least two weeks before the audience; later ones can only go on a reserve list. It collects the tickets from the Prefecture for you, and you pick them up at its office at Via dell'Umilta 30 in the afternoon on the Tuesday before. They cannot be emailed or mailed. Check that there is an audience on your Wednesday: there are generally none in July or when the Pope is away.
Dress is your wedding attire, with covered shoulders for the bride and a jacket and tie for the groom; traditional wedding dress of your own culture is welcome. A personal greeting from the Pope is not promised. The office says only that occasionally some couples have the opportunity to greet him after the audience. The audience is not a Mass, and the blessing does not replace the nuptial blessing you received at your wedding.
